Foundation for Dane County Parks 2020 grants update

August 8, 2020
When the Foundation for Dane County Parks Board reflects on the positive outcomes that were achieved with a small amount of money and lots of volunteers, it was a relatively easy decision to fund another grant cycle in 2020-21.

COVID-19 and a brutal market impacting the performance of the Friends of the Dane County Parks Endowment creates challenges for the Foundation. However, the Board has allocated $15,000 for small grants to the many volunteer groups and nonprofits that support our Dane County Parks.

The Allocations Committee will be meeting virtually before July to finalize guidelines to be approved by the Board. We expect the grant cycle to begin around October with a deadline for applications and approval of requests in December 2020.

Last year’s grant recipients will receive an email from Andy Lewis with instructions on how to report their 2019-20 project communications and outcomes.

October Update: The Foundation Board has approved another grant cycle with an application deadline of October 31, 2020. We certainly recognize that this year has been a challenging one for everyone. We are asking all 2019 grant recipients to simply send an "interim" report that outlines your progress and what yet needs to be completed if you are not finished with your project to be eligible for a 2020 grant.

If you believe in the importance of building the capacity of our volunteer parks groups, please consider making a donation to the Friends of the Dane County Parks Endowment. It is the interest on the principle that is maintained in perpetuity that funds these activities. Learn more here.
